Default Power Window Spring

Has anyone had to replace the power window spring on their C3. Mine has broke but I see a replacement spring is sold by Mid America. Is it very involved to replace it?

Given the very limited space, unless you're a contoursionist. I would believe you will need to remove the regulator.

Definately need to remove the regulator first. I would remove the regulator and also check the gear to see if all the teeth are good before ordering anything. I replaced the entire regulator assy. and made the repair much easier; and also more expensive.

I just did the entire regulator; it was a good 2 or 3 hours for me.
It would be a PITA to replace that spring as it looks to me.

I thought I read somewhere that the symptom of a broken spring is a window that drops quickly, but rolls up normally (like my pass. side). Is this true??

Thanks,
Dan

Unless your good with tools and very patient, if the spring is broke I would buy a new regulator assy. Chances are your rollers are worn and the teeth on the gear are getting ready to go to. You don't want to have to do this twice. Rebuilt regulators aren't cheap...but this job isn't fun. While you're at it you may want to replace the window motor drive gear ($15.00) from Advance Auto). Individual parts, rollers, gear, springs can be purchased from any of the major Vette catlog sales folks.
