Can someone please help me?
I have rebuilt my A/C on my 1979 corvette and replaced all vacum line under dash. however it does blow out good cool air, but it stops to blow from the center vents when I get on the gas and doesn't come back on until I get to a lower RPM. Do I have a vacum problem (vacum line not hooked up right, or is there a checkvalve in the vacum line that i do not have } PLease help me fix this problem
THANKS
There are several small vacuum lines to various flapper valves inside the system that distribute air to different vents. Sounds like the vacuum is not quite right and if you loose vacuum when accelerating the valve changes position. The valves always default to one or the other position, so it probably is not returning until the vacuum builds back up. There is a chart of the proper positions in the shop manuals.
Another thing I found with not cold enough air was the thermostat control that switches form warm to cold was not adjusted correctly. I was still getting half heat when in the cold position. Hope this helps, just a simple adjustement and no vacuum with this movement!
