need help rebuilding control valve, how hard is it. is it worth it? can I do it myself?
it is on a 1969 and i need it done quick please help me out guys
I shopped around and discovered that Eckler's sells control valves for $100 + $75 core. Autozone sells the same thing for $165 + $55 core. You do the math.
Eckler's also sells the hoses...$60 for the full set for "exactly" the hoses for our vettes. If you check autozone online or in the store they will have several different makes and shapes for different applications of GM systems, and they will probably try to sell you the cut-to-fit hoses...it could take several different trips to get the right ones and run you like $100 for all four.
I'm doing a complete rebuild and the only thing I'm bying from autozone is the pump...they offer the same one that eckler's sells except that Eckler's wants $80 + $60 core while the zone wants $55 + $14 core...again, doing the math is important.
So...if you buy everything from the zone you will be paying like $320 (without any core charges since you get that back anyway), and if you buy everything from Eckler's you will be paying like $240. But, if you do like I do and buy everything except the pump from Eckler's then you will be paying $215. Let's see...I could have just saved you $105! Now you can afford to buy that CF membership that you've been dying to purchase so you can get the shiny stars under your name!
I bought mine from Vette Parts of MI, Muskegon has the same thing same price $65.00, Autozone and another local parts place were $145.00 or so, and Ecklers wasn't far behind. Ill save $80.00, bucks anytime.
