Default Lowering my 73

Will new shorter coil springs (F-41?) lower my BB 73? I just installed 17" TT II's with 245 45's and would like to eliminate the space between wheel well and tire. If so, how big of a job is this? Type of springs? Tricks?

The 550lb springs will lower the front about 1". You can also cut the stock springs removing 1 coil will drop it about 1-1.5".

It is pretty easy to change the springs. There have been a few different methods discussed on the forum before. Do a search and see what you can come up with.

If your buying new springs why not get the front glass spring. I understand it not only gives a better ride/handling but is height adjustable.
Plus your cake is lighter!

I would start with the 550lb springs first. If you need to cut your springs I would only cut a quarter of a coil at a time. You don't want to cut to much and be too low unless you want to buy another set of springs.

I just recently changed the springs, having a small block/AC I went with the 460's. With 245R60/15 tires I ended up cutting 13" off total, but in two sessions. The 550's will be the choice for you, installed they should bring your front down 1", as Red73 stated you dont want to cut too much off, also depending what mods you have made and options (aluminum heads, A/C, lighter components) cutting the springs should be done sparingly. BTW the outside spring measures 16 1/4" with a cloth tape......good luck, it's a fairly easy job, just installing, removing, cutting and re installing is time consuming....

I just bought VBP 550 lb. springs for mine, 1"-1-1/2" drop.
