Default Need Some HELP with my 82

Yesterday we were driving, and out of no where while accellerating the vette died as though gas starved...slipped it into neutral and it fired right up and drove fine once again...Did this same thing twice more then wouldn't start...seems to have at least some fuel...and enough fire to reach out and bite me...................Do you have any ideas I might explore, I'm no mechanic but I can use my hands fairly well...Thanks in Advance for your help

Fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuel filter for starters. Check Ignition power lead into distributor cap for tight connection. After that, it gets interesting, it is 2nd year computer controlled engine...G/L

Remove the air cleaner and observe the conical spray pattern (or not!) from the injectors when it won't fire. Is it weak, just dripping, or not there. If it's not right, you should check power to the fuel pump at the pigtail just above the filler neck. Changing the pump if it is bad is an easy job. However, replace itwith a pump from an '85 vette. Get a new sock for the pump at autozone--$4.

Could be a bunch of things, but if the spray is bad it won't hurt to upgrade your pump to an '85 anyway...

I had the output side of my fuel pump partialy disconnect itself inside the fuel tank after doing some "hard driving" around some turns with 1/2 a tank of gas once. It seems that the factory didn't want to waste a few cents and didn't put clamps on the connection between the pump and the steel tube in the tank. I managed to drive it home but it would BARELY run over an idle.

I agree with the others, most likely the fuel pump. If you hear it running it isn't the relay or any of the other components (oil press switch, ECM, wiring) w/ the key in the on pos. it will run for a couple of seconds, then cut out only to start running again when cranking. So check if you hear it buzzing. If you do it may be that it swallowed some junk and the vanes broke off (had that happen) or the hose may have come loose off the pump or the internal hard line (that's why I use hose clamps to positively secure it, stock only has a slip on fit)
If the pump is not running it can be the pump itself, if so replace w/ tpi pump (more capacity, pressure is regulated by regulator so it will run just fine, the tpi pump is much stronger /CFM than the tbi one) after checking the foillowing components: oil pressure switch/sender combo (next to distributor, it kills power to the pump in case of low oil pressure), wiring/fuse and the relay, the relay is located under the pass. side storage box.

this is it (there are several other boxesthere like the antenna relay, the wiper control module, the E-Cell timer (gold colored thing) ..and so on.

sorry for the poor pics
