Just recently, my engine has begun to run-on after the key is turned off. The engine is a non-stock 355 with only 7K miles. It began not too long after replacing the HEI and re-timing. Any suggestions as to why?
If it is idling too high it will run on, also it could be hot spots or carbon in the combustion chamber causing run on. If its an automatic you could turn it off in gear and it won't run on.

From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Make sure your idle is not too high or another thing that causes this is the timing is too retarded at idle and you set you idle up too high to compensate.

disconnect the red lead from the altenator and see it it does it then,if there is no run on then you have a feed back from the coasting altenator powering the ignition.
This weekend I had my Mr. Goodwrench buddy bring over his good timing light. Turns out that the mechanical advance springs were way, way too light and were give full advance at 800RPM We replaced them with a stiffer set that gives full advance at 2600 and everything is fine now. Thanks every one. !
