Tranny question '69

I was checking all the fluids while winterizing the vette last winter. I noticed the tranmission fluid was low (automatic). Off to NAPA and bought fluid to put in. After driving away the tranny would not shift out of first gear. Any thoughts? Absolutely no shifting problems prior to that even though the fluid was apparently low

Bring it up to operating temperature and check tranny fluid level again. First guess is that fluid level is still low. Have you noticed a fluid leak beneath the car?

In that case, I'm surprised you made it out of park.

Low fluid levels will cause the pickup to suck in air, and air is a poor conductor of hydraulic forces.
