While I have got it out I am thinking that I should have it rebuilt. It was a little difficult to shift at times. I have read some of the articles online about rebuilding and seen some of the rebuild kits for sale (only $160)
Is this a job best left to the pros or is this something that a novice can do?
If it is something a novice can do then does it require the use of special tools and possibly a "how to" video?
The rebuild can be a "do it yourself" BUT being able to spot worn out gears takes some experience...it`s those little "speed gears" that makes ALL the difference...make sure you get a kit with a new cluster pin and new synchro assemblies (NOT just brass!!) will go a long way in insuring you won`t have a "re-do" later.......

Does anyone else have any good rebuild instructions to go on?
I called a place locally and they quoted around $1200 for a rebuild.
5Speeds.com does not offer a video for this transmission.

Get the Muncie video they are similar. The frotn bearing is a bugger to get out and the counter shaft has a woodruff key in it but Pauls vidoe will be very helpful.

It's easy to do I did it when I was just starting in on cars. My biggest problem was removing the old bearings. Its a great winter project that you can take down into the basement and work on inside.
$1200 is a rip off you can get a new Richmond Super T-10 for $1400 at Summit or the likes.
Like redvetracr said spotting worn gears is difficult.... but my worn gears have done me well so far.
