Lower A-arm

Lower A-arm
So I started rebuilding my front end this week because I am off work, got it all a part and took the A-arms to a shop to have the new bushing put in. Well I noticed a lot of shims on the passenger side which kinda worried me, and then the shop tells me that one of the lower arms is bent,not the arm but the bar that attaches it to the frame. What is that bar called and where can I get it? Also my car is not suppose to have ever been wrecked is that problem common?
