Putting the headers in the 71 big block and now I need to do the rest of the exhaust. I'm going with 2.5 mandrel bent but can't decide on which mufflers to go with. Any suggestions? Its a 71 454 with 1-7/8 primaries mild cam but everything else is stock.
I guess I should say I want them to flow at least enough to breath the engine and being loud is not a bad thing...my neighbor has a big truck and we like to wake each other up when we leave price is somewhat a concern I don't want to go too much over 100 a piece, and of course the cheaper the better so long as they still perform. Shop quoted me about 250 for mandrel bent piping from headers back this about a fair price?
You'll get lots of opinions on this. Dynomax makes some good mufflers....straight thru design = minimal backpressure. If you like loud, get some Dynomax Bullets. Quieter are the Ultra-Flos. Even quieter would be the Super Turbos.
