It has no leaks, and is not burnt, but is probably ready to change; also if I cannot do a complete flush, will it suffice to change the fluid again in say 2 or 3 days of driving, to get a better ratio of clean fluid?
That's what I went ahead and used...took a little over 3 1/2 quarts and the pan looked clean, and have no leaks so I'm good to go; next time in a few weeks I'm getting it flushed and an auxliary cooler (Heavy duty Ultra Cool) installed.
