You might want to check the condition of the latch mechanisms too. 20+ year old grease starts to turn into a glue 
I had to remove and clean my windows track and door latches recently to remove the old grease. It's amazing how much better they work now.

switches
I dont think this is your problem, but the switches do get dirty (contacts) and they need to be replaced or cleaned. What happens is the window will not go up or down, or intermittently work. I pulled mine out and cleaned them which fixed them for a time.

Check the wiring harnesses in both doors that run to the locks. I pulled a wire out on one while doing some other work and both sides quit. it's a real funky connector and the wires get pretty brittle.
