Gearvendors overdrive can be added on...I think around $1300. Why do people have automatics in a sports car is WAYY beyond me!
Automatics are just money-makers for the rebuilders! Get you a 4 speed for fun and add the OD for economy. In the long run, that'll be less than the auto/od route...IMHO..good luck, jim

Gearvendors is a heavy hard to install unit, and only a 20% engine speed reduction, and so that makes it not worth the money.....
what's needed is a MINIMUM of 30% reduction....shuld be 50% like the modern 6 speeds....
I tend to agree about the automatics, certainly MINE, the 700, which IF I had the knowledge I would have done a 200 4r conversion back in '97, .....or would have retained my stick shift, but no trannies available for less than 4 grand back then...NONE....so I went with the flow, figgering if the C4 used the 700, it's not THAT bad....RONG....
Redwing were did you get the new runners under the sill plate, mine to are rusted out, and did you have to cut any fiberglass to get that square channel up into the squarrel cage. Rocker channel is what I was trying to think of. I also saw on your web site that your number1# moount surface is square. Did you just weld a peice over the original mount, did it change the way the boby sits on the frame? One more thing is the 200 computer controled i'm trying to get away from the ECM.

The only thing that I like automatics for is Bracket Racing.. Stick shift is a huge disadvantage when bracket racing..
Thanks GrandSport, I think Chevy High Performance magazine may have put one of CPT's transmissions in a Chevelle as a feature. I'll check out the site you included.

My engine is putting out around 600 HP and I aleady have 38 drag strip passes on it without any issues.. It's holding up very good so far!!
Did you set the trans up yourself with regard to the TV cable and pressure? I know Bowtie Overdrives requires you to purchase an install kit to measure this as per the warranty. How did you set up yours?

I just adjusted the TV cable to be fully pulled out at WOT... I'm mostly concerned about getting the maximum line pressure at WOT.. I also drove a total of about 150 miles on the street like that and it worked great...
