Default More Horse Power ?

Well my step dad and i are almost ready to drop the big S.O.A.B. in my vette and for a little extra horse hes got a pipe welded to a plate that connects to the fuel pump flange ,we are going to run a chunk of hose off it up to the top of the engine with a chrome filter the filter was my idea the hose was his i guess theres oil that splashes out of the pipe.hopefully that all makes sense i wonder how much of a gain you could expect by doing this ?

Pipes welded to plates are always good for a few, too...

I guess on the positive side, less oil would mean less weight !

O.K. its a plate thats mounted where the fuel pump should be a simple plate with a pipe welded through it so its left open heres a picture of what im talking about notice the pipe sticking out where the fuel pump would be. The aluminum heads still half to be put on and im going to piant the block chevy orange but this should give a better idea of what im talking about.

Thought that was what you might be saying, to me it sounds like it will be nothing more that a vent tube that acts like a breather on the valve cover.

A peice of hose will be attached to it that runs up the side of the engine compartment so it doesnt leak oil ,and a filter on top something like the one you would pop into the valve covers why ? i dont know the old guy says it will help out with something i was half smashed when he explained it but from what i gathered it was a couple extra horse.I thought someone would have heard of this but i guess not.

You won't gain anything and I understand the setup but there is no reason for it, I'm not trying to be a wise ***. If you use the block off plate it will not leak, I've installed many of them and built countless big and small blocks over the years. I think he's saying that due to the small amount of resistance it takes to drive the fuel pump, you will not notice any power.

Guess you must have passed out when the old guy was talking about the rest of the setup that included a vac pump and an oil seperator. Pulling a vac on the crankcase is used to provide incremental reductions in parasitic loss.

Is it worth the trouble?? are you reving this thing to 8000 rpm?? now the setup makes some sense but not on a street motor, I don't know, I'm all about not spending money if I don't have to.
