Default Re-Charging the AC 1973

Where do you add R12 to the system on a 1973? I have one additional question of where can you by a leak detector for the system?

Thanks

you charge it on the low side. there may be a valve behind the compressor where the hoses connect. if you have two valves up there, the one closest to the engine will be the low side. the low side hose is on the engine side of the compressor and runs back towards the fire wall. the high side hose is on the other side of the compressor and runs up to the condenser. if there is only one valve behind the compressor, it is probably the high side. be very carefull. do not try to charge through the high side. you will need to monitor the high side pressure to ensure that your system is operating properly, but all charging is done through the low side. there is also a low side valve down on the VIR assembly.
