I have a Pertronix II on the 69. I am very pleased with it. However, I do not have it hooked up exactly correct. I am not hooked to a switched 12V source. What is the best wire to piggy back on? What color, and what is the location? Thanks.

I ran a wire into the cabin and plugged it into the "IGN" slot on the fuse block. I run the Pertronix, Electric Choke, and Control circuit for my fans off of this wire.

This was the identical set-up I used....works flawlessly.
Did you run the Pertronix red wire to IGN or a wire from IGN to coil + and Pertronix red wire to coil + ? I just got a Pertronix Ignitor and coil, the instructions seem simple enough .. red to coil + and black to coil -.
Why did you have to wire to IGN ?

Coil wire is as it was from the factory (using an Echlin coil - for now).
IGN wire to a junction
- Junction to Pertronix
- Junction to Electric Choke
- Junction to Fan Control Circuit
The pertronix needs to be wired
- Black to - post of coil
- Red to [switched] + 12V
Unlike the POINTS system which only has the black wire to the coil - post.
I will get my old instructions out, But I thought the directions on my P-II, were to hook the red wire to a switched 12V source, hence running the wire to the IGN fuse. I am starting my car with a starter button currently (during some restoration), and just use a jumper wire. I am looking for something more perminent, which is the basis of my question. I will be purchasing a new coil this weekend, and it would be whole lot easier just to go to + and - on the coil if that will work properly.

That's exactly what I outlined....

Just remember:
the "-" post on the coil is NOT ground - it is the "signal" (be it from points, pertronix, or whatever) from the distributor.
the "+" post on the coil may or may not be 12V (stock is NOT).
