I posted last week about aluminum heads. But I'm still undecided on what size head I should get. The car is a street car but not a daily driver. I want to make 400+hp without losing all my low end torque.
Check out Pro Topline heads...kind of what I'm considering for when I make the shift to aluminum heads...I'm following this thread fairly closely as my goals are similar to yours (I'd like 300hp at the wheels from my 355). Here's a link to their 23 degree 64cc chamber 200cc intake heads.
Not saying anything bad about either head but the Pro top line 200 head flows very close to the AFR 195 head and price is pretty close. It looks like a toss up between the two. Anyone have first hand knowledge of the Pro Top Line head.
If you go to their homepage they have a where to buy page that shows different vendors. Don't see anything in CT, but there may be some places near you where you can order them...looks like Jegs and Summit don't carry them anymore.
I just called summit up on the phone and they said that pro topline was bought out by another company. This company is called (RHS) Racing head service, and they bought the Pro Topline name. The new RHS versions of the pro topline heads will be more money and are not coming out until next month.
If you want the pro toplines you have to find a supplier that has left overs.
I've seen them go for about $1300 on ebay, which I think is the rough cost. Used seem to go for around $1000 from my minimal research. They aren't cheap, but those who do have them, swear by them. Although some extra machining may have to be done after you buy them (check out thevetterisbetter threads on his problems with oil pooling).
ya I think that the AFRs might be a little out of my price range right now. I was hoping to stay around 1,000 maybe 1,100 tops. I still need to buy roller rockers and probably new pushrods.
