I have a 75 that I recently started driving after a frame off restoration. After driving it about 60 miles one day (to work and back), the transmission started leaking. I have driven it before this, but not as far at one time. In about a weak, the spot under the car grew to about the size of the entire front of the car. I have cleaned the leaking area, and it appears to be coming from the dipstick area. My question is, where can I get a dipstick O-ring (I put a new one in, but forgot where I got it), and is there anything special that I need to do to install it? Like I said, it has a new o-ring, and it is a new dipstick tube.
The odd thing is that I checked the fluid today just out of curiousity and it was very high. I have not driven the car since the leak, nor have I started it. I understand that that as it sets, the fluid will drain from the converter into the pan, but there seems to be an awful lot in there. It is a turbo 400.
Sounds like too much fluid, or the wrong kind of fluid.
Well it is the proper ATF, because I recently changed the filter and pan gasket, so I know the fluid is correct. I thought (wished) it was simply too much fluid, but I started the car and let it run for a few minutes last night, and now therer is no fluid registering on the dipstick. There is definitly a leak, and I think it is around the dipstick tube.

I picked up a dipstick o-ring at CarQuest for 50 cents. They even had one in the back.
I seem to recall having to dig around with a pick to remove the new one. I put some fresh ATF on the new one and wedged it in.
