Is there a procedure to follow for changing my clutch fan on my '79.
Man there is not alot of room in there, so I'm wondering if the rad actually has to come out. Thanks if you can help set me in the correct direction!
Just make sure the water pump studs are not bottoming out or are stripped and rubbing on the inside of the water pump. A longer than spec stud used for carbs can do this.
Like the others said it is a job by feel for the most part.
Unbolt the fan then unbolt the clutch. Take the fan out first then there is plenty of room for the clutch. Clean everything then get out the paint. Don't forget to use armor all on the inside of the fan shroud. Now is also a great time to repaint the smog pump pulley and replace the ugly bolts you pulled out.
