tranny mount & speedo seals

Default tranny mount & speedo seals

does anyone know if its possible to change the tranny mount on a 73 small block auto without removing the frame crossmember

and


if the repalcement speedo seals are supposed to go in without a press

I'm guessing you don't want to drop the crossmember because you don't want to disconnect the exhaust??

It might be possible to change the mount without dropping the crossmember by simply jacking the tranny up as high as it will go into the tunnel, but be careful not to jack it up too much because you could damage the fiberglass floorpan/tunnel.
If that doesn't give you enough room to switch the mount then you will have to unbolt the crossmember, but it shouldn't be a problem to allow it to hang on the exhaust pipes while you work on the tranny mount.

Not sure what tranny you have, but the speedo seals on my turbo 400 are just o-rings. No press needed.
