I just started my vette after completing a rear suspension rebuild. Car has not been started in about 9 months. I bled the rear brakes, which I've done many times before, per the proper sequence. I noticed that the dash brake light is illuminated. I double checked my master cylinder and there is plenty of brake fluid and no leaks that I'm aware of. The brake pedal feels solid and does not go to the floor. What else can cause the brake light to illuminate?
To check which one is triggering the light, just remove the plug from the proportioning valve. If it stays on, it must be the parking brake switch or wiring. If it goes out the prop plunger inside the valve has been triggered...off to one side. Typically in this situation bleeding is very difficult so I suspect that is not your problem. But jab the brakes hard a few times to move the plunger back to the normal center position.
Dont forget to re-install the plug from the prop valve when you are done.
I forgot to mention that the parking brake has temporarily been disconnected. I installed C5 wagon wheels and need to relocate the parking brake cable tabs to the top of the trailing arms. I guess I need to check the parking brake switch to make sure that it is depressed since there is no tension on the cable.

See my post above...just edited with more info. The parking brake switch is in the handle...check it.
