Is it possible to remove the AC evap and still retain the heater funtionality? Would like to remove the bulk of the AC unit from under the hood.

Default Yes, you can remove the ac system...

without imparing the heater. at least most of it. If u do it right, it can be replaced at a later date. Of course stuff would need to be replaced, like the drier, and stuff would need rebuilt, like the compressor. If you pull it off, keep it all. Seal it all. Hoses, drier, compressor, evaporator. Keep it if only for reference i.e., drier. The heater system is generally a seperate unit. Both have coils in the fan box inside. Seal it off using saran wrap, tin foil and clamps of some type. Please do keep all the pieces. Somebody will want them some day.
