Default 1979 window roller question

I just replaced the weatherstriping on my 1979 corvette and needless to say the windows know need to be adjusted. I took my car to a local glass shop that I have used before and the person said that I need off set window rollers in the front because the adjusters are out of adjustment, and the glass needs to be moved to the rear approx. 1/2 inch. I checked several parts houses and all but one says that I can use the same rollers for a 68-82 car, but one (Ecklers) part #41965 says that a different kit is needed for 78-82. Does anyone know if the front roller should be off set or not and if it is where I can get the proper kit. Thanks Gary B.

Find a new glass shop...IMO. I've rebuilt hundreds of Corvettes over the years, and NEVER needed "off-set Rollers". There is plenty of adjustment there. The front track has 2 bolts at the top ledge of the door shell (slotted). That is the horizontal adjustment. G/L

The only difference that I am aware of between model years is the number of rollers used on the windows. New weatherstrip should not require relocating the door glass back. I would think that the adjustments needed are in or out to align the glass in the weatherstrip channel. my .02

Just done mine. The vertical tracks have adjustments to move the window in or out as needed. Or find a shop that specializes in corvettes. Yours doesn't know what they are talking about.

Well does anyone know of a good glass shop around the Kansas City Mo. area. Thanks for all the good information. Gary B.

Would like to ask a question also. My windows rollups both sides have a gap toward the front of the car. This is correctable? I also put in new weather stripping. Do you normally lower the rear or raise the front. Haven't pulled the door panel yet to see where adjusments are. Thanks.

It is a tedious job but can be accomplished thru trial and error. Take the door panel off and find where the tracks bolt to the top of the door, two bolts oer track. also, midways of the door are two bolts about six inches apart that are adjustable. Make small adjustments and try them until you have the window where you need it. Then reinstall the panel. I'm sure there is a procedure for this in a shop manual and maybe someone on the forum has access to it.
