Advance vacuum question?

Since you all did such a great job with my timing question, I figure I'll pop this in for comment....
On my Edelbrock carb(s) I have 2 vacuums I can use for the vacuum advance to the distributor...one only brings up vacuum as the engine RPM's rise...the other is constant on...always drawing vacuum with the engine running. I currently have the advance connected to the constant on vacuum port...
Question is....is this right or wrong...?
As I've said in the previous post, the car DOES run pretty solid right now, I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of the configuration that I can put together.
Thanks

Using manifold vacuum (constant vacuum) will allow more advance at and near idle. This means better throttle response etc. Ported vacuum allows for more "retarding" in the advance for hotter combustion chamber temps for burning off pollutants.
