Some of the members suggested repairing cracks in the panels by using fiberglass resin and mess. Well I tried it today and it turned out pretty bad. I'm not the best in fiberglass repair, but it was difficult to sand considering the difference between the resin and vynl re hardness. Not only that but it didn't adhere that well. I think I need to find another way. Anyone have any other vynl repair kits that worked for them?
Thanks for both advice Bruce, cosmicvette, I now has 2 sets of door panels and all 4 panels are cracked. I was hoping I didn't have to purchase another 2. Do you have Wilcox web site?
I have tried several vynl repair kits and have yet to find one that is worth anything. I followed the same path as you and finally bought those sticky on arm rest peices. They looked like sh-- so I finally broke down and bought door panels. Wasted a lot of time energy and money trying to save a couple of bucks.
If you want it to look good replace them it will be cheaper than getting an upholstery to fix them.
I strengthend the cardboard side with resin but I doubt any repair is going to work on the vinyl. Only 2 choices. Replace the vinyl or replace the entire door skin. I don't think redoing the vinyl would be easy but cloth might be dooable.
I did rework the vinyl around my speaker hole so with patience I suppose its possible to replace it.
