I'm considering using shorty headers on a 427, and having a muffler shop fab up a couple pieces to the factory sidepipes. The plugs are all angled in one direction, and didn't know if there would be plug clearance issues, or if shorty or block hugger type headers will even fit in there. Tnx.
Well the factory manifold is kind of a shorty so I don't see why not.
I've been thinking about a further extreme. Either regular headers and turn them out or side pipe headers and end them shorter. Either way sticking with the factory pipes.
Shorties should work fine for what you are wanting to do. If you are looking for a set of BB shorty headers, I have a set of ceramic coated Sanderson block huggers I will make you a good deal on. Here's a link to their website:
