I saw a post a few months back but could not find it in the archives. Who has a Lakewood bellhousing with the adjustable pivot ball? Were you good to go with the 4.75" distance from the surface of the flywheel to the top surface of the ball stud?
I did not measure mine. I just adjusted it so the travel was good and the fork lined up correctly. Then I removed it and tack welded it so it did not move. It has been in there for 2 years now with no problem.
I want be able to do this. I still have to get the "Z" bar and the rest of the under hood linkage so I need to try and get it as close as possible now.
Oops! I re read the instructions tonight and it is 4.75" from the block plate not the flywheel. I got it adjusted and it looks to be right now. I hope.......
Since many flywheels are of different thickness, I am not sure that 4.75 will work for ALL cars. It should be taken as a 'starting' point.
I have been using one of these for a while now a quite a while back I pulled the clutch and found the skinny lock nut cracked and loose. Replaced it with a full size nut and locktite'd the he11 out of everything. I also cut a slot in the end of the ball stud 'clearenced' the tranny to be able to adjust the stud with everything installed - just in case. Something to think about.

Good idea roadster thanks for the info.
Brett, No secrets here. My cam is an Xtreme 282s, Harland Sharp roller rockers, all other components are Comp Cams. This is a starting point for me. I actually plan on replacing it with a roller at some point. I had not considered a roller in the past but with all the stories of wiped lobes on Xtreme cams I think that I will upgrade after the car is on the road.
I've got the Xtreme 274 Solid and it's been a nice cam for me. What type of lifters? You really should get the kind with the small laser hole in the face to lube the cam lobes. I'm using the Crower Cool-face solids. I also suggest you use the GM EOS lube for breakin, then change your oil right after.

Been a while, but I think the 4.75 was given with the condition of a certain flywheel thickness. I know I measured the thickness of my flywheel and did some math to adjust the 4.75 number...
