The fusable link near the horn relay literally smoked on my 73. I replaced it with an appropiate new one. Since this moment my amp guage has never worked again. Any correlation? Thanx jim
I'd check for continuity through that fusible link path to the ammeter, if it's good then I'd do the following:
Run a couple of leads from the original ammeter connection points bypasssing the installed wiring just to check if it works....just and ON/OFF on the ignition switch to check deflection of the needle.
I don't know about a 73, but on a 71, there is wire leading from the horn relay to the amp guage. Is it possible that when replacing the fusable link at the horn relay, this wire slipped off the terminal and is now disconnected?
Well, the real problem is now that it has "smoked" all the electric stuff that was running around in them wires has leaked out. Need to see if you can get some more.
