1977 L82 vibration

1977 L82 vibration

I took my 77 L82 for a cruise today to my camp. She was a smooth
ride there, but when I left to go home she had an awful vibration. You could feel and hear thumping. Steering had a slight shake to it Seemed as though it was coming from the rear of the car. Maybe a lost balancer on a wheel? Half shaft U-joints?Any Ideas? Thanks for any ideas in advance. Gary

Check the tires..sounds like a belt is coming apart. My first guess.

This happened to me last week (DD). Felt as though the driveshaft was U-shaped! Examined the tires visually and didn't see anything wrong. Tires actually looked good. Then I ran my hand over the tires and there was a "tumor" in the right/rear.

if you bought them locally, take the car back and have them check them...

Thanks for all the replies guys. I bought this 77 L82 at the Carlisle
show in August. She's my 1st. I love her, and I know she need some work to get her back into top condition. I now have a new hobby without a single complaint. After alot of inspection and cleanup I noticed she needs bushings. Body mount- struts- stabilzers, the works. So giving some time and patients I will slowly get her back to being the smooth beauty she deserves to be. I will from time to time be asking a ?
and will be glad you guys are around.
