Which goes in first-gauge cluster or console???
'78 PC. I took the console out first when I gutted the car but man, is this a pain trying to put back together. It seems like I have to get the gauge cluster mounted first due to the radio and big connector to the gauges. Is that right? Cluster then console or other way around?? Anyone have any great tips for doing this?

Chevy in their wisdom made this a puzzle. To remove you start with the PB console, then the shift console then the gauge cluster. My Bros C5 still uses this insane method of assembly.
Reverse to install. Its like fish scales overlapping.
And yes you can remove the gauge cluster first but this is why they break.

Thanks for the responses guys. I got them both back in. First the cluster then the parking brake console. Actually they went pretty well aside from the center AC duct and getting the AC controls attached and tucked in. Why is it that I spend more time looking for screws, bolts, fasteners, tools, etc. then I do putting this crap together? I really need to get organized. Putting on the new door panels now and I tell you, the fear factor is pretty high cutting them out. Just makes you stop and think how they did it at the factory. I doubt one guy spent 4 hours doing one dang door panel...
