Default 1980 Interior lighting & door lock question

Hi,I have an 80 l-82 auto. Since I bought the vehicle the interior lights do not go on when either door is opened & glove box light has no voltage to it. Interior lights go on only when turning headlight switch. Also neither of my power door locks work or make noise. I am a recent corvette owner & was wondering if this problem is common to this year or model?

Sound like you've got some wiring issues. It's a 25 year old car, so lots of things can happen to wiring from corrosion to people cutting it up for one reason or another.

What you need to do is get a wiring diagram for the problem areas and take the door panels off to diagnose the door locks. It's possible that it is as simple as dirty contacts. In my case, the previous owner cut the harnesses out.

Here is a good place for you to start looking: http://iotech.no/corvette/technical/...tics/index.htm

Thanks for the link Ak. Mal. I have been having problems lately with my 80s wiring too. Was going to replace my regulator assembly on my passenger side, but the motor and locks stop working before I got a chance. Still trying to track down all the problems.

Sounds like the courtesy light delay timer is not working...or, the previouis owner removed it. I'm not sure where it's located in an '80, but, it's behind the glove box in my '82. In either case, with the timer removed, you can jumper pin "A" to "D" (those are the pin markings on my '82, should be two WHITE wires) on the associated wire harness so your lights will operate when the doors are open. I did this to mine last week...it'll stay that way until I get around to fixing it.
