I have a '75 L48 (Yeah, I'm sorry too). In the past, when I turn the headlights on at night, the "Lamps On (or Up)" light in the dash would stay on for a few seconds, then go out. Now it is staying on constantly and its a bright red. Is this a bulb going bad or is it a bigger problem? The actual headlights are working fine. Seems I remember tail/brake light bulbs shine very bright before they eventually go out.
check for a broken switch on each headlight bucket. The switch is made when the headlights are on and up. If the bucket fails to go up then the dash light will come on to tell the driver. The switches snap after a while and are available from any vette supplier.

PS that L48 can be built into a real nice driver so hold on to it. '75 get a lot of nonsense posts because of the orignal hp ratings, but with a little time and some parts they run as good as any base engine C1,2 or 3.
Starting in '69, each headlamp door assembly has a switch on the pivot arm that activates when the door is down, completing the headlamp warning circuit. 1 or both of your switches is either out of adjustment, or more likely, broken. They are black with a 3/8 nut, 2 wires plug in...G/L
So the red light should come on for a few seconds when the headlights are turned on and then go off. Mine stays on as long as the headlights are up. Hmmmmm...........

I try to take pictures of everything I have had to work on while I have had this corvette. I believe I have just about touched every nut and bolt on this car at this point. Some more than once.
Man talk about great timing, I layed on my back for an hour and a half today trying to figure out were the leftover wires on my new harness went. I recognised them immediately.
Thanks for the pictures.
