Default Headlight dimmer switch ?

There are quite a few electrical problems with my -69.
But important things first:
the dimmer switch for headligt does not work.
The light stay on full either way.
I have three wires to the switch, but there is one more, blue, dangling
loose, just above.
I did not find any cirquit drawings yet, so I wonder if this blue has anything to do with the switch at all?

I have to tell you also, that after my first week as a C3-owner, I am totally hooked. A pity it is soon winter. ;-D
But I plan to use the winter to get this baby back in shape.

There are only three wires involved with the dimmer switch. One wire is hot when the light switch is on, if the hot wire is on the right switch terminal, the other two should come on individually, one or the other, as the dimmer is activated.

Then I guess it is the switch.

The dimmer part of the switch is a loopy coil wire that looks like a spring.
Mine fell out and looked like a loose wire hanging out of the front of the switch. (1976 Vette) I was able to wind it back up and glue it back in place with some silicon.

Wasn't blue though.
Bare aluminum colored wire.
