Default New stereo install (pics!)

It's a mini-itx pc with a 7" touchscreen. I also have a GPS hooked up (how I found out the speedo is way off) so I can get driving directions and find my way around town (just moved).

Let me know what you think..

Looks like you did a good job, congrats. I wouldn't do it to my vette because I don't drive it enough to warrent it, plus I like to listen to the engine too much.

The L brackets secure both the amp and the pc at opposite corners. There is a bit of foam on the inside of the brackets so nothing gets scratched.

The brackets keep the pc and amp from moving left/right or up/down. The blue tow straps hold them both securely to the 'false back' door.

It currently runs XP, but I could make it run anything, since it's a full blown computer.

I am currently using iTunes. My song count is 17,430 / 50.8 days / 64GB.

I'm working on a custom interface to control the playback, as everything is abit tiny.

I'm not the first to put a pc in the car (www.mp3car.com).

I bought my pc stuff in the UK (www.mini-itx.com) but you can get it all locally: http://www.digitalww.com/

Eventually, I'll be controlling my EFI setup and doing live datalogging on the pc as well.

Get rid of those analog gauges and put the screen in there. Let the software do the gauges for you.

I originally was going to do that, but decided against it for a few reasons:

1. I don't have the sensor hookups on the pc. Wouldn't be too expensive to do though.

2. One of the requirements I had was to have about 90-95% of the interfacing with the pc to be thru a touchscreen. Mounting the screen where the gauges are, it would be a littl too far to touch (currently with my hand on the shifter, I'm an inch or two away from the screen).

I'm not ruling out getting the gauge readings on the pc (in fact, some of those will be logged with the EFI data).

I have found that I really need to get my windows tinted, as the glare really shows on the touchscreen...

I would try building the screen in somewhere. I don't have any idea where though. Either the gauge cluster or get a smaller screen?
Lots of people add a gps for speed on boats and I didn't like the tacked on look so built it in. The top display is for the engine. Just need those 2 gauges.

Wheres the speakers?

Nate, the EFI controller and harness will be going in sometime over the next month.

Currently my standalone fuel management system is the qjet.

Techno, doesn't look too bad in person, seated in it and driving the screen seems to be in a good spot.

Eventually I might pull the gauge cluster and put another screen in there...that would be really crazy though.
