Default battery cable connection

On my 78 about every 2 weeks my car wont start because of a week battery connection. I have to tighten the positive cable just as tight as I can get it for it to start. I've checked the connections and there isn't any corrosion or dirt on them. I was thinking about maybe spraying them with WD-40 or something like that would fix it.

Are you sure you don't have a bad solder connection between the connector and cable. Through time it may have some corrosion or broken solder. I'm sure others may have a few suggestions also.

If it was a bad solder connection it wouldn't start when I tighten it.

Default Just a question??

You posted this on:

Have you tried any of the fixes suggested in the previous posts?

If cleaning and reattaching the cables didn't effect a fix maybe they need to be replaced. (Both of them)

Are you saying your positive connection at the battery gets loose? Once tight it should stay tight. Are the threads stripped on the cable 'bolt' or perhaps the battery has stripped threads? It shouldn't get loose on its own.

If the connections are free of dirt & oxidation then WD40 isn't going to do much for ya.

The threads in the battery are not deep at all. Bet they are gone.

I guess I could try retaping the threads on my battery and if that didn't fix it I could replace the cables. Thanks for the info.
