Default Anyone using a transmission cooler separate from the radiator?

My stock radiator has a small leak. Instead of repairing or replacing it with another stock radiator, I think I'm going to try and get a 19x31 aluminum radiator (Griffin or Northern probably). These universal radiators do not come with the automatic transmission coolers. So, that means I need to find a separate transmission cooler. Anyone have some ideas?

I run both in series, but you should be able to just run an aftermarket one.

Get this kind, not the kind with a round tube, they arn't as good.

Thanks, do you have a recommendation on the minimum size I should look for? I am browsing ebay and I see many different sizes. I'm assuming bigger is better. I'll keep in mind about the round tube types.

Ask the company you buy from if it's the right one for your
cars needs.

You don;t want your trans to run tooooooo COOL

Is there such a thing? I've only ever seen that the lower the temperature, the longer the transmission life. I've never seen anything that says that it should run at a minimum temperature. What would happen, reduced performance?

I've seldom seen any Vette run cool anything under the hood. I run seperate trans coolers on both my L82 and LS6, just go to a auto store and ask for one. Mine are 1/2 the size of my rad and work perfect without any trans issues. I run headers near the transmission so for me I picked bigger to displace the heat made by the tranny and headers been so close to it. My 0.2

You can't run a auto tranny too cold, unless you winter drive in Minnesota/similar....impossible....

I would use a larger size a/c condensor/evaporator from a window a/c unit, fab up some mounting brackets so it's about 1/2 inch from the next heat surface and call it quits....
gotta be about 3' sq of area...hopefully with two parallel 3/8 tubes....

Junkyard tranny cooler out of a Crown Vic police car, approx 12" x 18", 20 bucks. You can just see it in this pic. New ones from B&M etc are 50-100 depending on size.
