I just purchase a 72 vert, that has been sitting for years. The lights are up and I want to put them down. The owners manual tells me how to put them up but it says to see a dealer to put them down. Does anyone know how to get them down.

Reach into the lower opening below the bumper under either light. Find the pivot where the springs come togeather, grab it and pull down. Might have to try different angles till you get it. About 5 pounds of pull will do it.

For a while, after an engine rebuild, I didn't bother hooking up the vacuum lines to the lights. Everytime I drove it at night, I'd have to manually pull up the lights. The next day, I'd have to reach under and pull them back down. Took a while at first, but can do it blindfolded now.
To pull them down manually, it's probably help to disconnect the vacuum lines attached to the can-shapped actuators.
I've moved mine up and down manually many times. Very easy.
But be a little careful. The springs are very strong and be careful not to get your finger in the pivot stop area.
