I can't get the seats to slide forward and backwards in their tracks, even when I release the seat lever (I'm talking about the whole seat, not just the seat back). I think there's been some rust that has stuck it tight. Any suggestions for freeing it?
A common problem, remove the 4 bolts that hol;d the seat. Remove the seat track form the seat. Add some wd-40, shake well, well actuall just tap the track back a forth with a hammer to free the ***** until the track can once again move. Squirt a bunch more wd-40 to loosen all the crap in there, then clean as best you can. The add some heavy oil, like 80 wt to lubricate, and work it in but sliding tracks back and forth. WSipe away all excess lube and you should be back in business.
A very good trick I learned from the Forum, a couple years ago, was to soak them in vineger. My seat tracks were severly rusted. I poured 2 gallons of white vineger in a cooler, submerged the tracks for 3-4 days. It removes all the rust and gives you a clean surface to work with. You will need to wash the with a solvent first to remove grease and oil as the vineger will not cut thru the grease. Where rust is heavy it almost appears as if they were sand blasted. Another added benefit is that it does not remove the zinc coating. Works good on nuts and bolts also.

And refreshes your intrior with a fresh Ceaser salad scent.
Seriously...this trick works great. Did this to mine with great results.
After you oil it up you'll have a Jullian vinigar & oil interior.
Bar-b-q some steaks on the intake and your all set to tail gate the big game!
Sorry...couldn't resist.

Grease is best, but it's hard to get in where it belongs.WD-40 will unstuck your *****, but won't lubricate, even motor oil is a little thin. I keep a trigger oil can with diff oil in it for just such occasions. Only used diff oil smells. Vinegar is a mild acid, and will get rid of corrosion, but you need to make sure you get rid of all remaining vinegar, which also smells.
