Default C4 Blower Upgrade Question (PIC)...

I went out and bought a new heater/ac blower motor for a '95 vette to put into my '71. Will this year work?

I was under the impression from the posts that I've read that pretty much any C4 blower will work, and that it's almost an exact fit except for the spacer.

Below is a side-by-side of my old one next to the new one. Did I get the right one? If so, on the new one which blade does the negative wire go to?

I guess I was expecting an exact match except for the height difference.

Thanks for the help...

I also did the upgrade. Used a 95 motor. Everything I see in the pic looks exactly like my parts so yes I think you made the right purchase. The c4 motor with the cage should stand about an inch taller. As for the wires, splice some connections onto your existing wires. Plug into new unit. I'm not sure what goes where but I believe I remember someone saying that the motor will spin backwards if you got them crossed and it won't hurt the motor to do this. Hard part is making the spacer. There's a lot of threads on it. To tell you the truth, the new motor was better (blew more air) but not nearly as much as I expected.

won't hurt the motor if you hook the wires backwards, like stated above it will just run backwards. I would get everything bolted up and before putting my connector together I would touch the wires to the blades with someone in the car. If the air comes out your good to go, otherwise swap the wires around.

Hey, guess what I have....
We did this to 71AirStrikes vette last year. and we made a drawing of the spacer. Just print it out as a full size page and the dimensions will be correct..

Is this upgrade because the motor spins faster or becuase the squirrel cage is larger? If it is motor speed can the cages be switched and not need spacer?

It's a few things. The motor spins faster, the cage is longer, and the cage also has blades that are more sharply pitched.

So to just use the motor, you would lose two of the three benefits.
