I am working on my trans and it would be better if I had an exploded view of it so that I have a piece of mind for when I finalize the rebuild. This is my first transmission I fully took apart and have already pieced it back together twice just to get some practice. I got the TCI master racing overhaul kit and a full manual, std shift pattern valve body. I also got all of the clevite and copper bushings and a new washer kit. There just seems like there are more parts with the kit than I have that I took apart. Everthing is laid out perfectly and I haven't lost anything. Mabey the kit is universal to a couple of other transmissions or something. I looked everywhere on the net for an exploded view but the only thing I found so far is the one book that the trans shop had and they don't have extras to give out.
I had some spares from my rebuild kit too. Haven't you been taking exhaustive notes??? I think it's too complicated for a single exploded picture... I'd either just double check the directions or go to your local finer book store and check out HPBook's TH350 book.
Instructions???? Are you kidding me!!! With the master racing overhaul kit all I got was a sheet of paper that told me to place the pump gasket on the case housing first before installing the pump. The valve body came with some instructions and it looks like that will be pretty easy follow but there are still question marks in my head about certain things. Like the "special plug", you have to drill a hole larger and tap the plug into it to block off flow of oil to somewhere. I thought at least they would have explained the purposes of these procedures so that I can combine my knowledge of understanding so I can see in my mind what the final result will be.
But thanks guys I'll try and find those books.
just got in from the garage and its 3:50 am here. So far all the clearances look great. Only the washers and needle bearings look slightly worn so they will be replaced. Gotta go back to the trans shop on monday now. Anyone have a clever way of removing the copper bushings out of the pump?My way was going to be to go to home depot and get a variety of hardened washers and shaving them into an oval then put it on a long bolt and slide it under the bushing to tap it out from underneath. There are 2 on one end and 1 on the other. Some of them are recessed in the cases a bit.
I got a chance tonight to install the manual valve body as well, the instructions are not as bad as I thought they were but, the plug for the vaccum modulator is not a tight fit in the case and the servo piston spring is not installed on the new valvebody. Was I supposed to take the one off of my old one or is it supposed to be like that. The main part of the instructions stress over and over how to install the gaskets and the plates. Well thats a no-brainer for anyone that took it off in the first place. I guess I should have gotten the complete overhaul kit instead of the racing overhaul kit.
OK, I don't know your exact situation of removing bushings but IF you need to remove a bushing from a blind hole (a hole that doesn't go thru) you can fill the hole with grease and use a bolt or pin or wooden dowell....anything that just bearly fits the bushing with a little clearance and by tapping smartly on the end of the dowell the bushing will hydrolically be pushed out.
