I bought an aftermarket steering wheel, but it does not fit my car. I want to know if anyone knows about a steering wheel hub adapter. If anyone has ever done this, please let me know what you did so that I can get this wheel on. Any advice would be great.
These two links to papers will give you some insight into how to adapt other Corvette steering wheels to the 1976 T&T steering column. The papers don't specifically address aftermarket steering wheels, but they will give you some insight into your problem.
I have a 76 and they used a unique steering wheel compared to other vettes (It was I believe a Vega wheel ). I replaced mine with an aftermarket wheel from Ecklers and they sell an adapter piece. One huge drawback ... you loose the telescopic function of the wheel (still tilts though). It's alot more inexpensive than the full retro-fit to the pre-76 style mounting components.
Here is a pic that shows the different part configurations. I converted a 76 TT column to a 70 configuration a while back. If anyone needs the 76 steering wheel and hub parts, they are available
