GordonM. Buying TKO-600 soon and decided to pull engine vice going in from below (no cutting frame etc.) like you did. Give me the short version of everything you had to remove/ accomplish to make this happen and your time line.
P.S. there's more to it than just the frame. I want to put in a 1 piece rear main seal, rehab the fiberglass on he firewall, put new grommets in all the protrusions for the firewall, and replace that old heat shield.

If you mean the main crank seal at the back of the block, you need a block from 1986 or later, different crank, and different flywheel. As far as I know, there is no 1 piece rear main seal for a pre-86 block.

That's my understanding too. Cali, isn't yours a 327?
Yes it's the original matching numbers block. I had hoped to use the 1 piece as it seems to get good reviews for zero leaks. I redid the 2-piece seal 2 years ago but it has a very small tiny leak, very tiny.

You are SOL. There are no 1 piece seals for the older blocks. It is a totally different design at the back of the block. Basically, the seal is no longer in the rear main cap but bolts on around the end of the crank.
Well regardless I'm putting a new seal new back there, and given the need for TLC on the firewall i'm going with pulling the motor/ trans as one piece and putting it back in the same way.
