Default Brake problems ??????

I was driving home the other night and I got caught in a rain storm... I drove for about 15 minutes in the rain and then went to hit the brakes and the brake light on the dash lit up and I had almost NO brake pressure. I checked for any kind of leak and then checked the hoses and lines... all seemed to be satisfactory. I then flushed and bled the whole brake system... Initially the brake pressure was better but not where I would like it to be. After about 4 days I noticed a slight improvement( enough to notice anyway). My ? is what the hell happened? I assume I got water in my lines or in the caliper itself... How did it get there and what is the best remedy for this problem?

i thought there were dust boots to keep crap away from the calipers. i'm not sure if they're water resistent but maybe it's something to check on???

If water could get in then brake fluid would be leaking out.

Could be the master going or one of the flex lines weakened and swelling under pressure. If they are more than 10 years old should be replaced anyway.
