I have seen where several have painted theirs. It did not occur to me to paint mine when I installed it. I installed like it was when I took it out of the box.

I would use either zinc chromate primer or cold galvanizing compound as a base coat, then paint with Eastwood's tank paint (several colors available). I painted mine silver alumiunum.

When I had mine out to remove the bladder I cleaned off all the external rust, primed, and painted it black. Why not? Who cares what the factory did? If you would prefer not to see the tank get rusty, paint it, if not leave it alone. Unless you are under the car you can't see it anyhow. Personal choice should prevail here.
