I'm sure this has been asked before but I tried searching and didn't have much luck. I have a rear brake caliper that sticks and am wanting to take it apart to fix it. This caliper was NIB when I bought the car last year. I put it on but it sticks. Rather than having to shell out the $ for a new one, i bought a rebuild kit from VB&P but I'm not exactly sure how to go about rebuilding/fixing the problem. If anyone knows of any threads or can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
You might have a rubber hose problem causing the caliper to not release. If you have a NIB caliper, providing it was indeed NIB, it shouldn't be causing that problem. If the hosese are more then 5 years old then replace them anyway.

I agree, it does sound like a flexible hose is your problem. Therefore before removing the caliper to rebuild it, to check the flexible hose, try this...
Pump your brakes a couple of times and release them. Then quickly go back to the "sticking" caliper and open a bleeder (a top one). If fluid shoots out, the hose is bad and acting as a check valve which is holding pressure in the caliper... replace the hoses in that case (all 4 while you're at it). If no fluid shoots out or it mearely dribbles out then look at the caliper.
thanks for the advice. i guess i failed to mention that i also had new rubber hoses and the short brake lines as well. hopefully i'll be able to check this out tuesday and let you know how i make out.
