Hello. I just installed the driveshaft in my '72 project. The body is still off, and when viewing the driveshaft while standing at the rear of the car, you can see the driveshaft is farther to the right (passenger side) as it enters the tranny, than it is at the differential. There is a difference of about 1".
Is this normal? The diffy can only be mounted one way, and the engine/tranny, so I assume this must be how it should be, but it looks weird...!
I really worked at getting my alignment as close as possible. I had a bad vibration and after straightening out the drive train is totally went away.
I actually move by rearend in an arc to better align the driveshaft.
Angles are ok as long as each end is the same but opposite in direction.
You can not have a big angle at one end and nothing at the other. It causes a vibration.
I kept my angles to about 1 degree, equal and opposite.
