Default Heater core removal

I'm trying to replace / repair the core in my 76. I've torn the dash apart and loosened the heater housing on the passanger side, but the housing still seems to stuck on something I can't see (loose but won't pull out). Do you need to do something from the engine / hood compartment (I did find one bolt to loosen...still not out.........uggggggggh!!! Ideas?? (cables already released......)

Thanx! Jack 76

Default one more bolt

Others can verify...but I recall you need to remove the blower box assy from firewall in engine bay to get to at least one bolt/screw holding the heater housing. Was it an a/c car?

Yep has A/C. Blower box looks like some tight work in the engine compartment. Thanx....

Default A/c nuts on studs from heater box

You might check to see if a couple of the studs on the heater box go through the firewall and blower assembly. Perhaps removing the nuts from these studs will be enough to free the heater assmbly without removing blower assembly.

I've got a system from a 77 in the shop...I could take a look if you like.

Good luck,
Joe

Default Stud top left corner

OK,

Had a look at my 77 heater box....has stud on top left corner when viewed from inside the car....find corresponding nut on top or side of blower assembly on firewall to remove.

Can photograph if you send me an email address.

Cheers,
Joe
