there is a near constant squeak when parked that seems to come from the pedal. when i push the clutch pedal down a bit, it stops.
sometimes when i am driving with the windows down i can hear a lot of squeak type noises at certain rpms. all kind of weird noises come out of the transmission area that seems to be much much worse when the car has been driven hard a real hot day.
runs great, shifts smooth most of the time, no slip, but the noise is killing me!
i was afraid you would say that; i did not put the clutch in, so i dont know how many corners were cut. the new clutch is mated to an new zz4; owner did the install and then had less than 500 documented miles on the setup.
real pain to pull the tranny just to replace a throwout bearing.
Check all the linkage. When I first got my car it had a nasty rattle/squeak. Like yours, I could press the clutch in and it would go away. I just didn't have the noise while driving so this may not be your problem. When I looked at it there were no anti-rattle springs on the linkage connecting the z-bar to the clutch fork. This is a quick and easy thing to check/fix. I hope it turns out that simple. Since you are getting noise while moving in gear I believe your throwout bearing or worse you tranny is going. After installing my ZZ4 my old Muncie started making noise after about 1000 miles. I know my countershaft is going bad because it only makes noise in 1st, 2nd and 3rd (these are the only gears that puts "stress" on the countershaft). 4th is ok which is 1:1 so the contershaft is not "stressed." I'm pulling it this winter.
