My '77 just started doing the same thing--same wheel too. I suspect another bad u-joint though I haven't taken the wheel off to find out for sure. Lazy me.
I've had the same problem on my '77 since i rebuilt the rear end,
(rebuilt diff/trailing arms/new uj's/ss parking brakes/new rotors & calipers/vb&p spring/strut brace.)
I thought it was the new stainless parking brake shoe hold down springs & caps hitting the back of the wheel studs, as they stood taller than the originals,so i swapped them for the originals wich gave me an extra 2mm or so clearance, still no luck!
Any ideas, anyone? I've got some rotor runout issues im in the process of sorting, could this be causing it?
just changed thr drive axle u joints, noise is gone..ujoints were shot.. if you change them mark the the adjustment arm nut and after you remove the u joint retainers turn the ajustment nut out so the shaft will come out..when you install the shaft bring the adjustment nut back to the mark so you dont screw up the alignment
Palazz ..... What do you suppose will happen if they're not 90 degrees out from each other? I've never checked mine, but I've done them both so I suppose there's a 50/50 chance I screwed up each side.
