Wasn't sure I could keep the batwing oil pan and use Steeroids R&P, but they worked. The lines on the top are really close with only a 1/16" clearance, so I'll have to bend one of them down a bit so I'll feel more comfortable and keep an eye on it. I also got the tranny mounted where it's going to be. The crossmember turned out pretty good too.
Look at the ground clearance!! The rack and pinion is now the lowest thing on the car....at least until I put the sidepipes on.
Now I'm going to put the steering column back in and have the guy that's modifying my Hooker sidepipes come over and check it out. Once the headers are finished I'm pulling the body off and taking everything off the frame so I can sandblast and paint it. Then, all the new suspension goes on. Fun stuff!!
Your crossmember turned out alot cleaner than mine. I need to go back and chop my skid plates off. great job.
I wish I could take credit for the crossmember, but all I did was take it out, clean it up, do the measurments, and cut it. Someone else welded the plates in for me and he did a great job. Having a removable crossmemeber definitely helps!

You might have to move that E-Brake bracket. Mine was barely rubbing the yoke.
Interesting since my batwing sits lower than my Steeroids!
I was checking my website but dont have any photos that show that. My exhaust sits slightly lower than the batwing anyway. Another 10 dasy until I'm home again but I can try and get a pic then if its of interest.

I checked out your site, and it looks like you have a traditional oil pan. I might be wrong because I surely haven't seen everything, but I've only seen the batwing oil pan on a LS1. I am interested though if my engine is sitting high for some reason.
Right now the tailshaft of the T56 is at a 3.5 degree angle, and according to S&P anywhere from 2-5 degrees is acceptable.
BTW, great looking Vette! Mine looked exactly like yours only much unglier when I picked it up.

James, the Moroso oil pan was a late fit brought on by a friend with a 71 BB running a set of bearing whilst hard driving on our twisty UK roads. As I said earlier, I am out in Russia right now, but home on the 15th and I can post a couple of photos then.
Awesome job ! What lift do you have? That is exactly what I want in my garage some day, makes life so easy !!!!
This is my dad's lift and his shop just to clarify. I live in a kind of studio apartment above the shop which is cool for me because I can walk downstairs and work on my car 24/7. At 25 yrs. old, the free rent is the reason I can afford such expensive toys.
It's a Gemini GP09A and it is $2,900 installed within 100 mile radius of Orlando, FL. It's a 9,000 lb. lift with offset arms so that you can open the doors while the car is on the lift. LOVE IT!
The name of the company I bought it from is Fournier. They also sell a model 9AI that is built with imported steel, but still has the same hydraulic system on it. It's $2,600. His # is (800)-891-5438 and tell him James Pulliam from Fort Pierce sent you
Man that looks Keep up the good work. What kind of tires are those in the first few pics? The look extremely old school lol.
I have no idea, but I'm sure they're at least 10 years old. The car spent 9 years parked in a Vette salvage yard/shop and the owner of the salvage yard told me that the previous owner said he hadn't driven it in 5 or 6 years. Funny thing is they spent about a hour and got it cranked and drove it on the trailer!
